How do you convert military time?
Military time counts the hours from 00 to 23, so there's no AM or PM. From 1300 on, subtract 12 to get the afternoon hour: 1300 is 1:00 PM and 2145 is 9:45 PM. Going the other way, add 12 to any PM hour except 12. Midnight's 0000 and noon's 1200.
Converting, step by step
1845: 18 - 12 = 6, so it's 6:45 PM
7:20 AM: hour 07, so it's 0720
11:05 PM: 11 + 12 = 23, so it's 2305

Shift workers see 24-hour times on rosters all the time. If you're adding up hours from a schedule like that, the time duration calculator accepts 24-hour times directly.
Common mistakes
The classic slip is noon and midnight. 12:00 PM is noon, which is 1200, and 12:00 AM is midnight, which is 0000. If you're ever unsure, remember there's no hour 24 in the middle of the day.
Another one's dropping the leading zero. 0930 and 930 mean the same time, but schedules almost always write four digits, so it's a good habit. The converter'll accept either.
And don't add 12 to every afternoon hour without thinking. You'd add 12 to 1 PM through 11 PM, but 12 PM stays 1200. It's the only afternoon hour that doesn't change.
